About Ron Simmons

Ron Simmons is the son of two Arkansas public school teachers. He and his wife of 37 years, Lisa, have three adult children and three grandchildren. Ron is a distinguished alumnus of Dallas Baptist University and the co-founder and Chairman of Retirement Advisors of America (RAA) a $2.5 billion investment services firm. He and Lisa are active members at Prestonwood Church in Plano.

From January 2013 to January 2019 Ron served as the State Representative for House District 65 in Denton County. In his three terms in office, Representative Simmons proved to be a leader in policy areas such as transportation, disability rights, first amendment protections and tax reduction.

He was honored to be named the “Most Valuable Player” of the 2013 Freshman Class by Capitol Inside. He served as the Chair of the Policy Committee for the Texas House of Representatives Republican Caucus and the sub Committee Chairman of the Long Term Financing and Planning Transportation Committee.

In the 85th Legislative Session, Rep. Simmons was appointed to the House Committee on Transportation, the House Committee on Appropriations, and the House Committee on Local and Consent Calendars. He also served on the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute Board of Directors.
